The Ravenna and North Muskegon baseball teams split their West Michigan Conference doubleheader on Tuesday, with the Bulldogs winning the opener 7-1 and the Norse taking the nightcap 9-4.

In Game 1, Ravenna pitcher Brian Thompson tossed a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out nine. Jared Broton had two singles to lead the Ravenna offense while Calen McCullough had a double.

Brighton Schofield hit a home run in the first inning for North Muskegon’s lone run of the game.

The Norse used a season-high 13 hits in Game 2 to pick up the victory.

Brett Huff had three singles and a run for North Muskegon while Schofield added two doubles and a single.

Jesse Cooke picked up his second win of the season, tossing six innings of shutout ball and striking out five. Cooke also added two doubles and three RBIs while Alex Slocum added a single, a triple, two runs and two RBIs.

Austin Sied and Evan Kops led the Bulldog offense with a double each, while McCullough had two singles.

North Muskegon is now 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
