The Grand Haven girls soccer team defeated Jenison 2-0 in a Division 1 district semifinal match on Wednesday to advance to the district finals.

The Bucs will seek their first district championship since 2007 on Saturday as they will take on the winner of Grandville and Mona Shores at West Ottawa High school at 1:00 p.m.

Sidney Thayer opened the scoring with five minutes left into the first half to give Grand Haven a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Thayer’s goal was assisted by Summer DeWitt.

The Bucs increased their lead to 2-0 midway through the second half on a goal from Ali Keyser.

Grand Haven’s goalkeeper Jordan Ellingboe, who is committed to Hope College, earned the shutout win in net.
