The Oakridge girls soccer team defeated Shelby 2-1 on Wednesday in the first round of the West Michigan Conference tournament.

The Eagle were paced by Lanessa Meyers with two goals, while Madison Bisson added a goal and Alexis Florez chipped in with an assist.

The game was tied 1-1 at halftime before Oakridge scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half.

Oakridge’s goalkeeper Brooke Ruel stopped four shots in net.

The Eagles will travel to face Whitehall on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the WMC tournament semi-final round.
