Orchard View’s varsity softball team slugged their way to a Lakes Eight Conference sweep of Western Michigan Christian/Muskegon Catholic on Wednesday, 19-2 and 17-2.

In the opener, the Cardinals had all nine starters record at least one hit. They were led by senior Jaelyn Eggerson, who had two hits and four RBIs, while Matisen Gaunt and Hunter Keller added two hits and three RBIs.

Pitcher Halee Holman limited WMCC to just four hits — one each from Maria Sanocki, Haylee Moser, Hannah Nestell and Rebecca Ter Haar.

In Game 2, OV scored in every inning, sparked by three hits from Cassidee White and two each from Eggerson and Allie Tenhove.

Tenhove also picked up the pitching win, as she allowed just four hits and struck out five.

WMCC falls to 8-16 overall and 4-6 in Lakes Eight action.
