The Shelby baseball team had a big day on Saturday, posting three victories to win the championship in the Ken Smith Memorial Tournament.

The Tigers defeated Grant 20-5 in the tournament title game. Cody DeVries pitched the win, scattering four hits. Leading the Shelby offense were Lake Lankfer (three hits), Kristian Oberlin and Brent Worth (two hits) and Matt Felt and Jon Hughey (two RBIs).

Shelby beat Fremont 3-2 in its opening game of the tournament. Felt pitched the win, Hughey had two hits and Lankfer had a two-run single.

The Tigers beat White Could 5-0 in their second game. Simon Payne was the winning pitcher, Oberlin had two hlts, Felt had an RBI double and Lucas White added an RBI single.

Shelby improved to 18-9 on the season.
