The Spring Lake softball team picked up a pair of wins in the O-K Blue Conference on Tuesday behind two strong performances from Leah Vaughan.

The Lakers won 7-0 and 8-1 over Grand Rapids West Catholic.

Vaughan earned the win in both games. She allowed three hits and struck out 13 in the opener, followed by a seven-strikeout, two-hit pitching performance in Game 2.

Madelyn Nelson led the way offensively with three hits in Game 1 and two more in the nightcap. She also hit for the cycle in the doubleheader, registering two singles, a double, a triple and a home run.

Ann Marie Galloway contributed four hits on the day. Lauren Somers had two hits in Game 1 and three RBIs in Game 2.

The Lakers are currently ranked eighth in Division 2 and will take on fifth-ranked Oakridge in a highly-anticipated non-conference matchup on Wednesday.
