Morgan Kinnucan’s overtime goal gave WMC a 2-1 victory over Ludington on Monday night, while also securing a share of the Lakes 8 Conference title.
Molly Patton came in from the flank to notch the game’s first goal in regulation. Grace Johnson went forward from her defensive post to send a well-placed cross into the feet of Patton who did not miss.
But Ludington responded, finding a way to sneak the ball past goalkeeper Ashlyn Lane on a corner kick scrum in the box.
It wasn’t until the first period of overtime that the game’s next goal came.
Kinnucan presented a defensive challenge all night and finally found herself a goal, tucking it past the Ludington goalkeeper and into the side netting.
