The West Michigan Whitecaps got back on the winning track with a 3-2 victory over the Clinton LumberKings on Wednesday at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The victory evened the series at one game apiece, after Clinton beat the Whitecaps on Tuesday night.

West Michigan fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, then Josh Lester put the Whitecaps ahead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second.

The Whitecaps added to their lead in the fourth inning when a Daniel Pinero triple scored Cole Baumi to make the score 3-1.

Clinton scored a run in the seventh inning, but was unable to tie the game, ultimately giving the Whitecaps a home victory.

Pinero and Cam Gibson led the offense with two hits apiece. Starting pitcher Eudis Idrogo picked up the win, tossing seven innings while striking out six and surrendering two runs on five hits.

The Whitecaps improved to 16-10 overall on the season. They will finish their series with Clinton on Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
