The West Michigan Whitecaps were one out away from having their five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night.

But they came back and tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, then stole a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bowling Green in the bottom of the tenth at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The Whitecaps have now won six games in a row, and 20 of their last 24.

With nobody on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, West Michigan’s Josh Lester singled to reach base, and eventually reached second on a wild pitch.

Lester then came home on an RBI single by Daniel Pinero to tie the game 3-3.

In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded with one out, Blaise Salter hit a walk-off single to center to score Anthony Pereira.

West Michigan was led by Salter with three hits on the night while Danny Woodrow and Pinero each added two hits.

Relief pitcher Jason Foley picked up his second win of the season, giving up one hit in the tenth inning.

West Michigan now sits at 26-12 overall and is tied for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division with Dayton.

The Whitecaps will try to complete a three-game sweep with a special morning game against Bowling Green on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
