With two victories over Fort Wayne –  2-1 walk-off win on Tuesday and a 5-0 win on Wednesday –  the West Michigan Whitecaps have now won five straight games.

Blaise Salter had the game- winning RBI single on Tuesday when he knocked in Anthony Pereira in the bottom of the tenth inning. Relief pitcher Jason Foley picked up his third win of the year when he struck out three and didn’t allow a run.

On Wednesday, starter Alfred Gutierrez tossed seven scoreless innings for West Michigan, striking out seven and allowing three hits. Gutierrez picked up his fourth win on the year.

Danny Woodrow, Josh Lester, and Pereira led the Whitecaps offense with two hits on the day.

The Whitecaps are 31-14 and at least tied for first place of the Midwest League Eastern Division. As of this writing, Dayton was still finishing its game with Great Lakes, and will either be tied or a game behind West Michigan.

West Michigan now has the best record in minor league baseball.

The Whitecaps will host the series finale with Fort Wayne on Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
