Western Michigan Christian’s girls soccer team clinched at least a share of the Lakes Eight Conference title on Wednesday, following the Warriors’ 8-1 victory over rival Muskegon Catholic Central.
The Crusaders scored just 2 minutes into the contest, but the Warriors answered 10 minutes later as Morgan Kinnucan scored off a pass from Chloe Mitchell.
WMC took a 2-1 lead into the half, as Cassie Kingma sent a through ball to Lauren Myers who deposited the ball into the net.
WMC kept rolling in the second half, picking up goals from Emily Rosema, two more from Mitchell, and one from recent varsity call-up Carli Betten.
It was Mitchell’s second hat trick of the season.
WMC goalie Ashlyn Lane had a strong performance with several fantastic saves, including a leaping effort in which she finger-tipped the shot over the goal.
