The Western Michigan Christen/Muskegon Catholic Central bats took over in its doubleheader sweep of Ludington in a Lakes 8 softball on Friday.

WMCC cruised to a 12-2 victory in the open, then captured a 12-11 nightcap win from a walk off single by Amelia Heminger.

Heminger led at the plate in Game 1 for WMCC with three hits and four runs, while Maria Sanocki had two hits and three RBIs and Haylee Moser added two hits and two RBIs. Hannah Pell posted a three-run triple for WMCC as well.

Riley Rittenhouse had two hits for the Orioles in the opener and Mackenzie Howe contributed with a single and an RBI.

WMC had 14 hits in the Game 2 as Heminger finished with four hits and three RBI while Sanocki, Ashley Sandin, Pell and Leah Sweetman had two hits apiece. Hannah Nestell chipped in with a hit and four RBIs.

Ludington was led by Breanna Lange with two hits and an RBI and Ryan Makowicki had two hits and two RBI.

Moser posted the win in both games on the mound for WMCC, giving up seven hits in each contest.
