The Grand Haven baseball team posted two big come-from-behind victories on Saturday to capture a Division 1 regional championship and advance to the state quarterfinals.

It was the first regional baseball title in school history.

The Buccaneers beat Byron Center 6-3 in the semifinals. They trailed by a run before scoring four in the top of the seventh to steal the victory.

They went on to beat Grandville 2-1 in another thriller in the finals.

They trailed 1-0 in the top of the sixth when Max Schweikert recorded an RBI single to knot the game at 1-1. Jake Hansen delivered the big hit in the seventh, when his single knocked home Sean Casey with the go-ahead run.

Schweikert picked up the win from the mound, going all seven innings, allowing only three hits, one run, two walks and striking out one batter.

Kyle Hoover led the Buccaneers at the plate with a team-high three hits while Joey Zelenka and Brandon Tuuk each recorded two.

Grand Haven advances to play Saginaw Heritage in the Division 1 quarterfinals on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Central Michigan University.
