Grant falls short against Sparta in Division 2 baseball district finals

The Grant baseball team fell 9-1 to Sparta on Saturday in the Division 2 district finals at Cedar Springs High School.

Gabe Castro led the Tigers with two doubles while Tommy Kelley added a double.

Grant advanced to face Sparta on Saturday after defeating Oakridge 4-0 earlier on Saturday in the semifinals.

Spencer Naffziger picked up the semifinal win for Grant, tossing seven innings of scoreless one hit ball while also striking out eight.

Zach VanderWeide led the Tiger offense with two hits and an RBI, while Castro had two hits and two RBIs and Chase Lowry also had two hits in the game.
