With the decline of daily newspapers, local media coverage of high school sports has been disappearing in recent years.
For the past five years, the staff at Local Sports Journal has been working hard to fill that void by covering high school sports along the lakeshore, from Ludington to the north, Ravenna to the east, Grand Haven to the south and everywhere in between!
Now LSJ is ready to offer even more coverage for our local school teams, beginning this fall. Area businesses, boosters and parents can help maximize coverage of their favorite school’s teams by purchasing a sponsorship ad – for only $25 per month – on the school’s LSJ web page! I would like to see Allendale High School get coverage in the LSJ. They are in the same conference as Spring Lake and in the same district as Fruitport and Spring Lake.
I don’t represent LSJ, but traditionally Allendale has not been a school covered in coordination with the teams shown above – which were all schools traditionally covered by the Muskegon Chronicle in the past. Granted they are in SL’s conference, but SL is brand new to that conference and is the only ‘Lakeshore’ school in the OK Blue. I would expect to see Allendale covered along with the schools traditionally covered by the GR Press in the past, as is the case with Coopersville.
How about some West Michigan Conference Cross-Country coverage. Hart is a potential girls State Champ and several runners both boys and girls will do well at state – likely an individual 1st place at State for Adelyn Ackley of Hart. A really great story is the competition between Sam Baustert of Whitehall and Cole Jensen of Montague. They consistently finish 1-2 at the WMC x-c jamborees – just 10th of a second separate the two. An awesome competition.
