The Spring Lake softball team captured its third straight Division 2 district championship, defeating Coopersville 13-5 in the finals at Allendale High School on Saturday.

The Lakers defeated advanced to the finals by beating Allendale 5-3 in the district semifinal game earlier on the day.

Spring Lake exploded for six runs in the third inning to break a 2-2 tie in the title game.

Madelyn Nelson hit a two-run homerun for the Lakers, while Lauren Hellman added three hits.

Linsey Paggot, Ann Marie Galloway, Jenna Core and Kileah Rymal each added two hits for Spring Lake.

Lauren Somers earned the win throwing the final five innings in relief.

The Lakers are now 35-4 on the season and will face Hudsonville Unity Christian in the regional semifinals at Hope College on Saturday.
