The West Michigan Whitecaps’ 10-game winning streak ended on Wednesday with a 6-0 loss to the Dayton Dragons in front of 5,590 fans at Fifth Third Ballpark.
The Whitecaps fell victim to Dayton pitcher Ty Boyles, who pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up only three singles and striking out four.
Boyles is now 3-0 on the season against West Michigan with a very low 1.23 earned run average.
West Michigan suffered only its second shutout loss of the season, and first since April 10.
Dayton ended a four-game losing streak. The Whitecaps fell to 51-23 on the season and 6-1 in the second half standings.
The Whitecaps and Dayton will complete their four-game series tonight in Comstock Park at 7 p.m.
