The West Michigan Whitecaps had their four game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 5-4 loss at Lake County.

Facing a 5-3 deficit in the top of the ninth, West Michigan scored one run to make the score 5-4 before loading the bases with no outs. However, three straight strikeouts by West Michigan hitters allowed Lake County to hold on for the narrow win.

After the loss, the Whitecaps are now 13-5 in the second half and 58-27 overall on the year.

Shortstop Danny Pinero led West Michigan on Sunday with two hits and two RBIs which both came on a home run in the sixth inning. Chad Sedio also hit a solo home run in the game.

West Michigan Starter Trent Szkutnik took the loss, dropping his record to 4-1 on the season. Szkutnik tossed 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits while also striking out four.

West Michigan will close out its series with Lake County on Monday night at 7 p.m.
