Fruitport soccer team falls behind early, loses 7-2 non-league game to Rockford

The Fruitport soccer team fell to Rockford on Thursday 7-2.

Rockford was leading 6-1 at the half. Eli VerMerris scored the Trojans’ lone goal in the first half with an assist from Zack Shane.

Shane scored the final goal of the game in the second half on a VerMerris assist.

Fruitport goalkeeper Connor Hines had a busy night, stopping 14 shots on goal.

Fruitport (1-4) heads to Kenowa Hills next Tuesday to face the Knights in O-K Black play.
