The Holton football team was shut out by Lake Michigan Catholic 22-0 in its season opener on Thursday night. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Catholic got on the scoreboard in the second quarter and took a 6-0 lead into the half. 

The Lakers added two touchdowns in the third quarter to increase their lead to 19-0. 

Catholic added a field goal in the fourth quarter. 

Brent McLaughlin led the Holton offense with 95 yards on 21 carries, while the defense was anchored by Derek Pouch with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. 

The Red Devils (0-1) will host Martin next Thursday night.
