The Holton football team scored 21 unanswered points to defeat Martin 21-8 in non-league play on Thursday night.

The Red Devils erased an 8-0 deficit midway through the second quarter on a 75-yard touchdown run by Brent McLaughlin. The two-point conversion tied the contest at 8-8.

Holton took its first lead of the night in the third quarter after Mitchell Erickson found the end zone from 29 yards out to give the Red Devils a 14-8 advantage.

The Red Devils closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard scamper by McLaughlin.

Mclaughlin finished the night with 128 yards on 15 carries, while Erickson had 118 yards on 18 carries.

Holton’s defense was paced by Zack Hogan with seven tackles, while McLaughlin and Erickson each recorded an interception.

The Red Devils, who are now 1-1 on the season, will host Kent City next Friday night to open up CSAA Silver play.
