The Reeths-Puffer girls’ cross country team bested the field and won the Muskegon Invitational on Saturday.

The Rockets totaled 45 points while second-place Kent City had 62. Fruitport finished fifth (120), Mona Shores was sixth (153), Western Michigan Christian was seventh (168) and Ravenna was ninth (249).

The Rockets had team balance, with three runners among the top 10 individuals. Kendall Jones was third overall (19:35.95,) Jayme Brantsen was fourth (19:58.34) and Grace Sweet finished seventh (20:29.14).

Other area runners in the top 10 were Lauren Freeland of Kent City, who took second (19:12.40); Josie Aardema of Western Michigan Christian, who took fifth (20:13.56); Layla Martina of Kent City, who finished sixth (20:18.77); Adele Cory of Mona Shores, who was eighth (20:31.90); and Kenzie Bowers of Kent City, who finished tenth (20:48.08).

Hart girls win Benzie Central Invitational

The Hart girls’ cross country team took first place at the Benzie Central Invitational on Saturday.

Adelyn Ackley was the top runner for the Pirates, finishing second overall with a time of 16:54. Savannah Ackley was ninth (18:43), Alayna Ackley was 12th (18:51), MacKenzie Stitt was 24th (19:30), Brenna Aerts was 26th (19:38), Lynae Ackley was 29th (19:42) and Layla Creed was 81st (21:22).
