Shelby fails to find the scoreboard in its opener, loses 40-0 to Grant

The Shelby football team failed to score in its season opener, falling 40-0 to Grant on Friday night.

The Tigers trailed 7-0 after the first quarter, 21-0 at halftime and 40-0 after three.

Shelby was led offensively by quarterback Christian Oberlin with 80 yards on 8-for-22 passing. He also threw three interceptions.

Jorge Cavazos added 50 yards rushing on 16 carries for Shelby while Isiah Frye had 40 yards receiving on seven receptions.

Oberlin led Shelby defensively with 16 tackles and an interception while Cody Devries added five tackles and an interception.

Shelby will face Montague at home next week.
