The West Michigan Whitecaps extended their win streak to five games on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over South Bend.

West Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Isaac Paredes singled home Cole Bauml.

The score remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when Dylan Burdeaux doubled to center field to score Chad Sedio, giving a West Michigan a 2-0 lead.

Whitecaps starter Anthony Castro improved his record to 10-6 while tossing five innings and allowing no runs on four hits. Trent Szkutnik picked up a two inning save for his fourth save of the season.

West Michigan is 88-43 overall on the year and 43-21 in the second half, three and a half games ahead of Fort Wayne for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

The Whitecaps will continue their road series in South Bend on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
