Spring Lake volleyball team overcomes late deficit, defeats GR West Catholic in five sets

Lauren Hellman big night offensively led the Spring Lake volleyball squad to a five-set win over Grand Rapids West Catholic on Thursday in an O-K Blue Conference match.

The Lakers dropped the opening set 20-25, won the second 25-19, fell short in the third by a service score of 22-25 and bounced back in the final two sets 25-23 and 15-12, respectively.

Hellman paced Spring Lake with 17 kills, 14 digs and four blocks while Jenna Core contributed with 15 kills and a team-high 23 digs to go with three aces.

The Lakers were also paced by Abbi Perkins with six blocks and Madeline Zenas with 46 assists and 16 digs.

Spring Lake is now 16-4 on the season and 4-1 in league play.
