The West Michigan Christian volleyball team finished in second place in the Crusader Invitational at Muskegon Catholic Central on Saturday.

The Warriors finished 3-1-1 on the day. In pool play they beat Hesperia (25-17, 25-21), Black River (25-7, 25-22) and Kalamazoo Christian (23-25, 25-23, 15-11). They also split with Bishop Foley 23-25 and 25-21.

WMC lost the championship match to Bishop Foley 25-20, 25-17.

Madison Heiss led the Warriors with 33 kills, Chloe Mitchell had 91 assists, Aubrey Goorman recorded 15 blocks and Abby Summerfield had 44 digs.

Muskegon Catholic finished 3-1 on the day. The Crusaders defeated Fruitport Calvary (25-12, 25-19), Muskegon (25-1, 25-9) and Kalamazoo Christian (27-25, 25-20) in pool play.

They lost to Kalamazoo Christian 25-21, 25-23. No individual player stats were available.

Hesperia posted a 3-2 record and defeated Fruitport Calvary for fifth place (25-14, 27-25). Ally Bayle and Delaney Hussey each had 17 kills for the Panthers. Kyra Sayer had 38 assists and Emily Bayle had 22 digs.

Grand Haven posts a 4-1 record at West Ottawa Invitational

The Grand Haven volleyball team posted a 4-1 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the West Ottawa Invitational on Saturday.

The Bucs started out pool play by defeating Kalamazoo Central (25-20, 25-23) and Reeths-Puffer (25-17, 25-16).

In power pool play, they beat Traverse City West (25-23, 25-22) and Grandville (25-20, 17-25, 15-10).

Grand Haven lost to St. Joseph 26-24, 25-15, 25-7 in the quarterfinal match.

Ashley Slater had 47 kills for the Bucs and Olivia Boeve had 41. Ashlyn Hall recorded 102 assists, Baby Hang had 36 digs and four aces, and Lauren Jonker had six blocks.

The Bucs improved to 25-11 on the season.

Spring Lake goes 3-0 at Whitehall

The Spring Lake volleyball team posted a perfect 3-0 record at a three-team event at Whitehall on Saturday.

The Lakers defeated Sparta (25-10, 25-17, 25-12), Fremont (25-10, 25-12, 25-4) and Whitehall (25-17, 25-20, 25-18).

Jenna Core led Spring Lake with 32 kills wile Lauren Hellman added 26 kills and eight blocks. Madeline Zenas collected 92 assists and Carly Bench had 34 digs.

Spring Lake improved to 19-4 on the season.

Ludington wins one match at McBain Invitational

The Ludington volleyball team went 1-2-2 at the McBain Invitational on Saturday.

The Orioles split their first three matches at one set apiece, then lost to Kingsley (25-5, 25-17), beat Pellston (25-18, 25-19), then lost to Kingsley in a rematch, 25-5, 25-21, in the semifinal round.

Mackenzie Luce led Ludington with 10 aces and 52 digs. Courtney Gerovac had 32 assists.

Ludington is now 13-12-7 on the season.
