The Muskegon Community College volleyball team secured at least a second place finish in their conference with a tough five-set victory over Kellogg Community College on Tuesday.

The set scores were 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 24-26 and 15-13.

Robbie Berg was the kill-leader for the Jayhawks with 22. Katie Veil piled up 48 assists while Shelby Rasch served up two aces.

Defensively, Sammi Hockstra had 22 digs for MCC while Julie Brown registered five blocks.

MCC is now 18-14 overall and 12-2 in the Western Conference of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. The Jayhawks trail undefeated Grand Rapids Community College by two games, with only two conference matches remaining.

Regardless of where they finish in the conference,  the Jayhawks clinched a berth in the MCCAA state tournament, slated for Oct. 28.
