Area surfers were stoked to get their feet wet at Pere Marquette Beach on Sunday. Lake Michigan was roaring throughout the day with waves topping out at eight feet.

West Michigan was pounded by rain throughout Friday and Saturday, and had wind gusting up to 38 mph out of the southwest on Sunday morning, with a sustained speed  of 24 mph at 7:20 a.m.

By midmorning Sunday the wind switched directions, coming out of the northwest, creating perfect conditions for local surfers.
