The Reeths-Puffer football team was ahead 22-7 at halftime and looked well on its way to clinching a playoff berth before falling 26-22 to Kenowa Hills Friday night in an O-K Black Conference game.
Daven Fox scored on a four-yard run to give Reeths-Puffer a 7-0 lead in the first quarter
before Kenowa Hills scored a touchdown of its own to make the score 7-7 after one.
The second quarter was owned by Reeths-Puffer, which outscored Kenowa Hills 15-0. Fox punched in a seven-yard run for a touchdown while Evan Moskwa threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Carter Fulton.
After leading 22-7 at halftime, Kenowa Hills outscored Reeths-Puffer 19-0 in the second half to steal the victory and ruin the Rockets’ effort to gain its sixth win and clinch a playoff spot.
Moskwa led the Rockets with 11 completions and 143 yards passing and one touchdown while Fox rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Jalen Williams finished with 38 yards on four carries while Fulton had 98 receiving yards and one touchdown on seven catches.
Gary Humphrey had an interception for Reeths-Puffer while Williams had a fumble recovery.
Reeths-Puffer finished the regular season with a 5-4 record.
