The Shelby volleyball team captured a Class C district championship by beating Hart in straight sets in the tournament final on Thursday night.

The Tigers plowed their way to the title by scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-9.

McKenna Peters led the Tiger attack with 22 kills and six service aces. Jaren Smith added 16 kills and Kasey Morse had 45 assists.

Defensively, Peters had 11 digs and Smith had nine.

“Great team effort,” Shelby coach Tom Weirich said about the win. “They played solid defense all night long.”

Shelby now advances to the Class C regional semifinals on Tuesday.
