The Orchard View boys basketball team earned its first victory of the season with an exciting 55-52 non-league win over Fruitport on Tuesday night.

Orchard View, now 2-3, led 17-11 after one quarter, trailed 30-29 at the half, and led 45-41 after three quarters.

Jaylin Briggs scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Brady Bowen chipped in 15 points and five steals.

Cameron Oleen netted 15 points to lead the Trojans while Marcelo Conklin and Hunter Gannon scored 12 points apiece.

REETHS-PUFFER 54, HAMILTON 42 – The Rockets (3-1) won their third straight game and matched last season’s victory total with a convincing non-league win over Hamilton. Reeths-Puffer trailed by three points after the first quarter, then led 25-23 at halftime and 38-34 after three quarters. The Rockets pulled away with a 16-8 edge in the fourth. Emcee Williams led the Rockets with 18 points while Gary Humphrey III and Kaleb Mitchelson both added 10.

HOLTON 43. MASON COUNTY EASTERN 35 – Nathan Slowik and Drew Trygstad had 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Holton, which improved to 2-3 on the season.

PENTWATER 71, TRAVERSE CITY CHRISTIAN 30 – The Falcons raced to a 41-19 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. Austin Hofmann and Glenn Miller each had 16 points for Pentwater.
