A big second quarter propelled the Shelby girls basketball team to a 43-30 victory over Whitehall in a West Michigan Conference game on Thursday.
Whitehall led 11-9 after one quarter, then Shelby took control with an 18-9 advantage in the second quarter and a 10-5 edge in the third.
Jenny Beckman and Sharon Stephenson paced Shelby scorers with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Tori Mussell had a huge game on the boards, pulling down 19 rebounds.
Kacy Jeffries and Sierra Spann each scored eight points for Whitehall.
