The Spring Lake boys basketball team won its fifth game of the season on Friday with a 58-40 victory over Wayland in a game played at Cornerstone University.

Wayland grabbed an early 9-0 lead, then the Lakers responded with a 16-1 run and led 16-10 after one quarter.

Spring Lake led 27-23 at halftime, then pulled away with an 18-4 burst in the third quarter.

Griffin Lorimer led the Lakers with 16 points while Jack VanWingen totaled 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Sam Johnson added nine points and Kyle Wiersma added eight.

The Lakers are now 5-1 on the season.
