The Western Michigan Christian boys grabbed an early lead against Manistee and managed to hold on for a 61-50 Lakes 8 win on Friday.

The Warriors led 17-12 after one quarter, 30-24 at halftime and 43-39 after three.

Tyler VanBeek led WMC with 12 points. Brant Zeerip chipped in 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.

The Warriors improve to 7-4 on the season and 5-1 in the Lakes 8.

LUDINGTON 42, ORCHARD VIEW 29 –  The Orioles went into halftime with just a 19-17 lead, but pulled away after that.  Nathan Lange helped extend Ludington’s lead with three triples. The Orioles went 8-for-10 from the  free throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the game. Ludington was led by Lange’s 18 points while Josh Laman contributed eight. Orchard View was led by Edmari Mitchell with seven points.

KENT CITY 78, HOLTON 55 – An explosive first quarter for the Eagles set the tone for the rest of the game. Kent City (11-0) led 25-8 after the first quarter and 45-22 at the half. Eli Carlson led with 19 points, while Fraser Wilson, Cody Bowers, and Miguel Arechiga each added 12 points for the undefeated Eagles.

FREMONT 59, CHIPPEWA HILLS 33 – The game was tied at 8-8 after the first quarter, but Fremont (9-2, 7-1) grabbed the lead in the second quarter and cruised to the blowout victory. Logan Karnemaat led the Packers with 13 points while Calvin Miller added 10.
 
MORLEY-STANWOOD 62, HESPERIA 36 – The Panthers fell behind early and could never catch up. Morley Stanwood led 12-4 after the first quarter and 27-15 at the half. Scott Peters led Hesperia (2-9,1-4) with 12 points and five rebounds, while Riese Wygant added eight points.

GRAND HAVEN 71, CALEDONIA 55 – Drew Sinke led the Buccaneers with 21 points in a conference win. Malic Love added 13 and Dimitrius Neely netted 12. Grand Haven is now 10-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

WEST MICHIGAN D LEAGUE

PENTWATER 48, BRETHREN 35 – Iain Stewart had a team-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Falcons to a victory. Pentwater (9-3, 6-2) jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter and led 24-15 at the half. The Falcons put the game away in the third quarter with a 17-10 edge. Max Stoneman added nine points for Pentwater.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

AVIATION ACADEMY 55 FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 42 – Calvary Christian outscored the Aviators in the second half, but couldn’t make up a large halftime deficit. The Eagles are now 3-3 in conference play. Ben Zelenka led FCC with 15 points. Luke Anhalt chipped in 14.
