The Spring Lake boys basketball team used a 21-point fourth quarter to secure a 57-39 non-league victory over Western Michigan Christian on Saturday.

Jack VanWingen led a balanced Laker attack with 13 points while Sam Johnson chipped in eight. Cayden Ball and Kyle Wiersma each contributed eight points for Spring Lake (10-2).

Brant Zeerip paced WMC (6-4) with 12 points and Tyler Somer added nine.

NON-LEAGUE

SPRING LAKE 60, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 41 – The Lakers (5-7) held the Warriors to back-to-back single digit scoring in the second and third quarters.  Linsey Paggeot led Spring Lake with 15 points and six assists, Jenna Core had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Madelyn Nelson added 11 points. Madeline Zenas chipped in eight points and six rebounds and Phoebe Saunders had four assists.  The Warriors (10-2) were paced by Addison Liggett with 11 points, Aubrey Goorman with 10 points and Anna Sytsema with eight.

WEST MICHIGAN D LEAGUE

PENTWATER 49, BEAR LAKE 43 – Pentwater moved into a first place tie in the West Michigan D League with the victory on Saturday. The Falcons (8-5, 6-1) came out firing on all cylinders, taking a 29-17 lead into halftime. Bear Lake pulled to within six points after three quarters, but Pentwater held on for the win. Pentwater freshman Jhordan Miller-Rowe, who scored five straight points in the fourth quarter to secure the win, finished with 13 points. Terra Cluchey tallied 13 points of her own while Madi Wagner grabbed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Julia Hall handed out seven assists and recorded eight points and four blocks.
