The Mason County Central girls basketball squad avenged a pair of losses on Wednesday night against Shelby in district play.

The Spartans defeated Shelby 73-64 in double overtime in a Class C district semifinal game.

The Tigers jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the first quarter, and took a 27-22 advantage at halftime and had a 40-35 advantage heading into the final stanza.

The Spartans took the lead late in the fourth quarter before Shelby tied the game late to force overtime on two free throws from Jenny Beckman.

The teams were tied after the first overtime, then the Spartans took control in the second extra quarter, outscoring the Tigers by nine to claim the win.

Maddy Bladzik led the Spartans with 29 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Rachel Allen stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, nine boards and eight assists, while Kelsey Kosiboski led Mason County Central with 10 rebounds.

Beckman led the Tigers with 32 points.

The Spartans will face White Cloud on Friday at 7:30 for a Class C district title at Mason County Central High School.
