The Montague boys basketball team bounced back up on Thursday night with a 59-57 win over visiting Mason County Central in a West Michigan Conference matchup. 

The Wildcats lost a close 54-52 battle to Orchard View on Tuesday but showed resilience against MCC on Thursday.

Trailing 17-7 after the first quarter, Montague responded by slowly chipping away at MCC’s lead.

The Wildcats trailed 33-24 at halftime and used a 17-9 third quarter edge to cut the Spartans lead to 42-38 before the start of the fourth.

Montague outscored MCC 20-15 in the fourth quarter.

Kenyan Johnston and Hunter Mosher both scored 16 points to lead Montague. Johnston also had four assists and three steals while Mosher had 11 rebounds and two assists.

Sebastian Arched scored nine points and had four steals and two assists while Nick Stever had nine points and a pair of assists.

The Spartans were led by Tyler Bromley with 24 points, Jeffery Carrier scored 11 points and Joe Rader chipped in 10.
