Pentwater used a big first quarter and solid defense against Manistee Catholic on Thursday to run away with a 62-39 girls basketball win in West Michigan D action. 

The Falcons jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the opening eight minutes and led 33-22 by half. Pentwater’s defense stepped up in the second half, holding Manistee to single digits in both the third and fourth quarters.

Four players scored in double figures for Pentwater. Terra Cluchey scored a team-high 16 points and Madi Wagner put up a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Taylor Wilkinson tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four blocks while Jhordan Miller-Rowe had three assists, five rebounds and four steals for the Falcons.

Penwater improves to 11-5 overall and is now 9-1 in the conference.
