The Spring Lake girls basketball team avenged a one-point loss to Sparta earlier this season with a 34-30 win over the visiting Spartans in O-K Blue action on Wednesday.

The Lakers shut out Sparta 9-0 in the fourth quarter and capped off the run with a Lindsey Paggeot steal that led to an and-one fast break layup as time ran out.

Spring Lake struggled offensively, holding an 8-7 first quarter lead and a 19-19 tie at halftime. Sparta jumped out in the third to take a 30-25 lead.

Madeline Zenas put up a double-double for the winning Lakers with 12 points and 18 rebounds while Jenna Core scored 10 points and had five rebounds.

Paggeot finished with five points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals and Phoebe Saunders had five points, six rebounds and two assists for Spring Lake.
