The Western Michigan Christian boys basketball team snapped a 19-year losing streak against Muskegon Heights on Friday night in Lakes 8 action.
The Warriors beat the Tigers 58-44 for their first victory over the Tigers since 1999.
Brant Zeerip led the way for WMC down the stretch, hitting 7-of-8 free throws in the fourth quarter to finish with a game-high 21 points. Tyler Somers finished with 18 points for the Warriors.
Muskegon Heights struggled from the floor offensively and had few answers for the Warriors down the stretch, getting outscored 17-7 in the final eight minutes.
WMC jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the start, but Muskegon Heights rallied back to take a 15-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was all WMC as the Warriors outscored Muskegon Heights 16-6 and led 25-21 at halftime. The two teams played even in the third as WMC held on to a 41-37 lead to start the fourth.
Daquan Walker and Shawndarius Briggs led Muskegon Heights with nine points apiece.
