Jenna Core hit a grand slam to lead the undefeated Spring Lake softball team to a 16-1 win over Sparta in the first game of an 0-K Blue Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

The home run was the 17th of Core’s career, setting a new Spring Lake school record.

Molly Poole chipped in with four hits and four RBIs. Leah Vaughan pitched the victory in Game 1, allowing four hits and striking out five batters in four frames. Vaughan also had three hits and scored four runs.

The Lakers completed the sweep with an 11-5 win in Game 2.

Lauren Somers picked up the win on the mound while Paggeot led the Spring Lake attack with two hits and three RBIs.

Spring Lake is now 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.

O-K RED

GRAND HAVEN 7-12, EAST KENTWOOD 3-4 – The Buccaneers scored five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead in Game 1.

Baby Hang pitched the win for Grand Haven, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four batters. Kaelyn Stafford and Ashlyn Hall paced the Bucs with two hits apiece.

Hang added four hits in Game 2 while Hall added three for the Bucs. who completed the conference sweep.

O-K BLACK

REETHS PUFFER 15-15, GR UNION 0-0 – Rylee Rzepka led the way for the Rockets with two hits and four RBIs in Game 1. Avery Sheffer also had two hits. MaKayla Thompson picked up the win, striking out six batters in two innings.

Brooklynn Duffey had two hits and five RBIs in Game 2, while Payleigh Primmer struck out five batters in two innings pitched.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

MONTAGUE 13-13, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 3-0 – The Wildcats were led by Kat Moreau in Game 1 with two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Alexis Marsh, a freshman, picked up the win, striking out seven batters in her first varsity start.

Pitcher Bailey Belinger picked up the win in the nightcap, throwing a
no-hitter through the first four innings. Allyssa Bobian had three
hits and RBIs while Kat Moreau added two hits and two RBIs.

LAKES 8

MANISTEE 11-15, LUDINGTON 1-0 – The Orioles dropped both games of their doubleheader Tuesday.

In Game 1, Megan Mulherin pitched 4 ⅔ innings for Ludington, striking out two batters and allowing 10 runs. Mulherin also had two hits and one RBI.

Saige Phelps doubled for the Orioles in Game 2, while Mackenzie Howe had two strikeouts on the mound.

CSAA

HESPERIA 19-23, LAKEVIEW 0-0 – The Panthers improved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play.

Ellie Palmer picked up both wins for Hesperia, striking out four batters in Game 1 and five during the nightcap. Palmer allowed just one hit throughout both games.

Lynnsey Tinkham led the Panthers in Game 1, hitting three singles and an RBI while Claire Rumsey hit two singles and scored three runs.

In Game 2, Palmer led offensively with three triples and had three RBIs while Kaecie Hornsby hit two doubles and knocked in two runs.

HOLTON 8-9, WHITE CLOUD 2-0 – Haylee Brant pitched the win in Game 1 for the Red Devils, striking out four batters and giving up a walk. Kylie Gould and Kaylie Piper each homered and had three hits in Game 1.

Kylie Gould pitched the shutout for Holton in Game 2, striking out nine batters, while Kennedy Greene tripled.

Holton improved to 6-0 on the year.

NON-LEAGUE

ORCHARD VIEW 5, HOLLAND CHRISTIAN 4 – The Cardinals improved to 7-0 on the season on Monday night.

Matisen Gaunt and Morgan Taylor paced OV with three hits while Cassidee White added two hits and scored two runs. Cardinals’ pitcher Allison Tenhove picked up the win while striking out nine batters.
