The Mona Shores baseball team caught stride on Saturday morning, getting a pair of non-league wins over visiting Grand Rapids Catholic Central. 

The Sailors nabbed a 9-8 win in Game 1 off an Austin Flowers walk-off singe in the bottom of the seventh. Flowers led Mona Shores with two hits and two RBIs while sophomore Kolbe Trovinger belted his second home run of the season with a three-run shot.

Conor Vallie pitched 4 and 2/3 innings and struck out three while allowing no earned runs. Peyton Fredericksen earned the win in relief for the Sailors.

Mona Shores hammered out a 14-4 win in Game 2 and collected 17 hits as a team.

Tyler Campbell, Tyler Warren and Matt Martin compiled three hits apiece for the winners. Flowers hit a towering 2-run home run for his first homer of the season.

Andrew Moss earned the win on the mound for Mona Shores (9-4), striking out six batters and giving up one earned run.

The Sailors open O-K Black action back up on Tuesday when they host rival Reeths-Puffer for a 4 p.m. start.

SATURDAY 

LUDINGTON 11-2, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 6-6 – The Orioles capitalized on six MCC errors in Game 1 as Nate Patterson threw three shutout innings in the Ludington win. Sam Bandstra posted a pair of hits and three RBIs to lead Ludington at the plate. MCC (8-2) was led by Carson St. Amour with two hits and two RBI and Riley St. Amour posted two hits. Navarre Klint was the winning pitcher in the Night Cap for MCC on 3 1/3 innings. Carson Bleicher and St. Amour had two hits each for MCC. Garrett Meeker led Ludington with two hits.

SPRING LAKE’S MIKE BERNARD TOURNAMENT – The Lakers topped St. Joseph 8-6 and beat Coldwater 6-0. Zach Foster earned the win in Game 1 as David Rumptz picked up the save. Griffin Lorimer batted 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Isiah Lindsey had a hit and two RBIs and Rylan Peets had a hit and an RBI for the Lakers.

In Game 2 for Spring Lake, Lindsey pitched all seven innings and struck out seven. TJ Cunningham and Mason Holmes each had two hits and an RBI. Zach Keyser, Lindsey and Lorimer had two hits apiece for the Lakers.

FRIDAY

REED CITY 12-8, FREMONT 4-2 – Calvin Miller and Jacob Delong both posted two hits for Fremont. James Pekel pitched five innings and struck out five in the loss. In the night cap, Parker Dalson led at the plate with two hits while Miller took the loss on the hill despite nine strike outs over six innings pitched for the Packers.
