The West Michigan Whitecaps wrapped up their four game series at Lake County on Thursday with an 8-3 victory.

Starting pitcher Matt Manning allowed one run on no hits while also striking out six and walking five in four innings. Reliever Oswaldo Castillo picked up his second win of the season, allowing one hit and striking out two over two innings.

On the offensive side, West Michigan broke out for 13 hits. Dylan Rosa led the Whitecaps with three hits on the day while Cole Peterson, Joey Morgan, Colby Bortles and Ignacio Valdez all had two hits. Morgan and Bortles also had two RBIs on the day.

West Michigan improves to 12-6 on the year and is a half-game behind Lansing for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division standings.

The Whitecaps return home on Friday for a doubleheader with Lansing that’ll begin at 6:00 p.m.
