The Mona Shores baseball team set a new record for runs in a game, scoring 29 in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Friday against Muskegon.

The Sailors blanked Muskegon 10-0 in the opener, then shut down the Big Reds by a 29-0 margin in Game 2.

Christian Johnson pitched the win in the opener for Mona Shores, striking out nine batters through five innings.

Braxton Carson led the Sailors on offense in Game 1 with a double and three RBIs.

In Game 2, Payton Fredericksen got the win striking out two through three innings pitched. Connor Belanger and Caden Broerma each had two hits and four RBIs.

The Sailors are now 12-2 in conference action and 21-6 overall.

MONTAGUE 15-7, SHELBY 5-4 – Wildcat pitcher Remington Schneider picked up the win in the opener, striking out five through four innings. Schneider also added three hits on offense while Luke Marsh chipped in with two hits and had three RBIs.

Zachary Buchberger pitched the win from the mound in Game 2. Brennan Schwarz led the Wildcats on offense, getting two hits and four RBIs while Nick Stever and Asher Erickson each added two hits.

Montague is now 7-3 in conference play and 13-9 overall.

ORCHARD VIEW 7-7, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 6-5 – Chase Keller picked up the win on the mound in Game 1 for the Cardinals while Michael Grinnell and Brady Bowen led OV’s offense with two hits each.

In the nightcap, Brady Bowen earned the win for the Cardinals.

Michael Grinnell had two hits for Orchard View while Brett Shawl chipped in with a two-run homer.

The Cardinals are now 3-3 in the conference and 10-10 overall.
