Mona Shores girls soccer team wins district tournament opener 3-1 over Jenison

The Mona Shores girls soccer team beat host Jenison 3-1 on Wednesday in a Division 1 district tournament quarterfinal game.

Scoring for the Sailors were Bri Wade, Madeline Eckerman and Sarah Mikesell. Assists came from Madelyn Anderson and Bri Wade.

Mona Shores Coach Dylan Darga credited Emilee Carlson, Nora Brown and Mieke Hart for strong overall play.

The game was delayed several times due to weather and called with about 15 minutes left.

Mona Shores, now 18-1-1, will face West Ottawa on Friday at 5 p.m. at Jenison High School in the district semifinals.
