Molly Poole turned in an impressive day at the plate in Spring Lake’s twin-bill softball sweep of bayou rival Fruitport on Monday. The Lakers won 10-3 in Game 1 and 13-3 in the nightcap.

Poole hit a pair of 3-run home runs in Game 2 and compiled five hits and nine RBIs on the day. The junior catcher posted three hits and three RBIs in the opener to lead the undefeated Lakers (12-0).

Pitcher Leah Vaughan struck out 12 for the win in Game 1.

Madelyn Nelson and Layni Wyns had two hits apiece. Jenna Core belted a solo home run for the Lakers who had eight different players tally hits.

Nelson tallied two triples, a double and a single in Game 2 for Spring Lake. Lauren Hellman finished with three hits while Lauren Somers posted the win on the hill for the Lakers.

Aurora Wilkes led Fruitport in both games, hitting a pair of home runs.

WEST MICHIGAN D

BRETHREN 9-7, PENTWATER 6-13 – Emma Oliphant had two hits and Jhordan Miller-Rower had a double and three stolen bases in Game 1 for Pentwater. Mikaylyn Kenney struck out 10 in the opener and pitched a one-hitter through five innings in Game 2. Miller-Rowe posted two hits while Terra Cluchey, Makaylah Cornelisse and Kenney each had hits in the win for the Falcons (1-6, 1-3).

NON-CONFERENCE

RAVENNA 11-7, NEWAYGO 1-16 – Mataya McBride had three hits while Karly Hanson and Grace Mayeaux had two hits apiece in Game 1 for Ravenna. Makayla Hogan grabbed the win, giving up four hits and three walks and struck out five. In the nightcap, Mataya McBride had two hits to lead Ravenna.
