Spring Lake softball team moves to 30-0, clinches another conference championship

The undefeated Spring Lake softball team swept two games from Grant Rapids Catholic Tuesday and clinched the O-K Blue Conference championship in the process.

It’s the sixth straight conference title for the Lakers, dating back to their days in the Lakes 8 Conference.

The Lakers took the opener 15-0. Leah Vaughan threw a two-hit shutout while striking out 10 batters.

Madelyn Nelson led the offense with four hits and four runs.

Spring Lake completed the sweep with a 16-1 victory in Game 2. Lauren Somers threw a one-hitter while striking out six. Vaughan and Lauren Hellman paced the Lakers with three hits each.

Spring Lake is now 30-0 on the season.
