The West Michigan Whitecaps fell 3-2 to Fort Wayne in a matinee game on Wednesday.

Whitecaps starter Matt Manning allowed three runs on five hits while striking out eight over five innings. Manning took the loss, dropping his season record to 1-2 on the year.

Offensively, Luke Burch paced the Whitecaps with three hits and one run on the day while Reynaldo Rivera has the lone RBI for West Michigan.

West Michigan is now 20-18 on the year and in third place of the Midwest League Eastern Division, 5 and ½ games behind first place Lansing.

The Whitecaps will wrap up their series in Fort Wayne on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
