The Hart girls track team won a share of the Division 3 state championship over the weekend, tying St. Charles for first place at Comstock Park High School.
The Pirates took first place in two events. Adelyn Ackley won the 3200-meter nun while the 3200-meter relay team of Adelyn Ackley, Savannah Ackley, Brenna Aerts and MacKenzie Stitt won their event, as well.
The Kent City boys team took third place in the Division 3 team standings. The Eagles had 32 points and finished behind state champion Clare (44 points) and Berrien Springs (42). Giovanni Weeks led the team by winning the individual state title in the 200-meter dash.
Other local athletes winning individual state track titles in their respective classes were Hart’s Logan Wells in the 400-meter dash, the Hart boys 400-meter relay team of Kegan Striat, Angel Aguilar, Wells and Oryan Torres, and Emma Fountain of Ludington in the 400-meter dash.
More than 40 local athletes won All-State honors at their respective classes by finishing in the top eight of their events. They are listed below, with the state champions in bold.
