The West Michigan Whitecaps were shut out for the second straight night, losing 2-0 to Lake County on Thursday night.

The Whitecaps were held to only four hits on the nigh with Brock Deatherage, Colby Bortles, Reynaldo Rivera and Dylan Rosa all having a hit.

Starting pitcher Elvin Rodriguez picked up the loss, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out six in six innings of work.

The Whitecaps are now 49-53 overall and 13-19 in the second half, six and a half games behind Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

On Friday, the Whitecaps will wrap up their home series with Lake County with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
